DAY 1 : Fes – Ifrane – Mashifane – Timahdte – Zaida – Midlet – Errachidia – Valley Ziz – Aoufous – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast at your hotel or centrally located meeting point, Take the road to Merzouga. Enroute to Merzouga, we will pass Ifrane, stopping to see the cedar tree forest and the local Barbary monkeys. We will also pass the American- Moroccan University, which was built by the Saudis. We will have lunch during our journey in the Ziz Valley or at another local town en route to the Sahara Desert. We will continue along the road to Merzouga and arrive before sunset. Take the road to Erfoud. Visit the Royal Palace gate. Enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the Borj-Est that rises 935 m (3067 ft) above the city. Tour the fossil sites in Carriere des Fossiles and the Maadid Ksar.
Erfoud is a city located in southeast Morocco. Although many ancient fortified villages have existed in the region for several centuries, Erfoud was built up by the French troops after the victory at Tafilalet that ended years of battle in 1932. Erfoud is an active city full of commerce, restaurants, street cafés, hotels, banks, handicrafts, and souvenir shops. While it is a modern Moroccan desert town, it still preserves the authenticity of a true Arab city with an impressively wild market and gorgeous surrounding landscapes filled with oases, dunes, and Rocky Mountains. Erfoud is a cinematic inspiration for movie directors. Many movies have been filmed in Erfoud, including Prince of Persia, March or Die, and The Mummy.
we will pass through, Ait ouzin and Rissani in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet, and the we continue to Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea you’ll have the time to relax and feel the desert serenading you in the riad , you can take a walk in Merzouga village in the end of this exiting day you’ll admire one of the best sunsets in the world . Dinner and night in hotel Merzouga.
DAY 2 : Merzouga – Rissani – Quad bicking in Erg Chebbi Dunes – Camel trek in the Sahara and overnight in the golden dunes in a Luxury Camp
After breakfast, you will start an expedition voyage of the area. We’ll take the quad biking adventure in the Desert Dunes for one hour. Take your quad and cross the Merzouga’s Dunes. Relish the dense sand dunes and wild desert experience as you bike across the Erg Chebbi Dunes. After you’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. You may also visit the souk in Rissani, a traditional town which was the origin of the ruling family in Morocco and the meeting place of the Caravans trading as far as Timbuctou in Mali. Here you will see a lot of men hooded and women veiled. In the afternoon you will start your guided camel ride, led by an experienced camel man to explore within the sand sea of Merzouga. we spend the night in Berber campsite where dinner is freshly prepared and served under the stars. After dinner, it all the time nice to join round fire for some music with drums.
DAY 3 : Merzouga – Erfoud – Touroug – Berber Vilages -Tinejdad – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Your camel guide will wake you up to see what well may be the best sunrise in you life. After the breakfast and hot shower in the Camp. Then you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga appreciating the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chabbi dunes-changing with the light as the day progresses.
From there, your driver will take you behind the High Atlas Mountains past clusters of palm trees and Berber villages towards the Todra Gorges.
You will feel small as gigantic walls of grey and amber rock tower on either side of you… Walk up the gorge and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by such splendor. See how locals live their lives as you come across some shepherds or make your way towards a small town on your walk. You will stay the night in Dades Valley near the Gorges
DAY 4 : Dades Valley – Rose Valley– Skoura Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait-Ben Haddou –Marrakech
In the last day, we will drive through The Dades Valley, also known as a Road of a 1000 Kasbahs stretches 160 km from Ouarzazate to Tinghir. We’ll stop at Kalaa Mgouna, “the rose city” famous with its annual festival of roses.
Continuing on to Skoura and the bird’s valley where the main features are the mud brick Kasbahs especially the Kasbah Ameridil, a well-preserved Kasbah in this area. The tour continues to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”, whose geography and beautiful landscapes has attracted many world class movie producers.
You will get the chance to see Kasbah Taourirt a Hollywood backdrop (Sheltering Sky, Gladiator, and Prince of Persia). Afterwards we’ll dive the UNESCO protected Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, one of the most beautiful Kasbahs on this area. The Kasbah has magnificent views of the surrounding palms, before heading to Marrakech via the tizi n’tichka pass .we’ll stop to visit the town of Telouet and its ancient 17th century Kasbah .
We will continue exploring the Tizi N’Tichka road especially its great landscape of Berber’s villages to Marrakech where our 4 days Fes to red city desert tour ends dropping you at your hotel or any other place you choose.
